Black Phoebe

  • This little Black Phoebe was photographed at Wilderness Lakes Preserve in Menifee, California.

When my husband Kevin and I go on our walks we usually see at least two Black Phoebe’s in the neighborhood.

Fun Facts:

  •  The oldest Black Phoebe on record was at least 8 yrs old it was captured and released by a bird banner in California 1981.
  • Black Phoebes rarely leave their breeding & wintering areas but one did show up in Minnesota during the Fall.
  • Black Phoebes are usually monogamous and pairs stay together for five years.
